CAMPING, CABINS & MOTOR HOMES
Experience the beautiful serenity of the surrounding landscapes of Featherston, waking up at one of the numerous camping areas and camping grounds which are available in and around Featherston County.  These range from tent sites to full facilities and cabins.  Motor camps offer cabin accommodation, as well as camping areas for your tent or caravan, and "freedom camping" is possible in areas around Lake Wairarapa.

HOME, FARM, COUNTRY SITES
A wide range of home / farm stay accommodation is available both in town and on outlying farms.  A great way to meet the friendly informative locals.  At cosy little home stays, you may live in your host's home, or in private cabins or farm cottages.

FOOD DRINK & PRODUCE
The closest gourmet area to the capital, Featherston county abounds in fresh food experiences.

Eating places in Featherston County are available to suit all tastes.  The whole range from casual to near formal is covered with cafes, fast food take-a-ways, country pubs and home stays to fine dining.

At Lake Ferry there is excellent dining which includes fish meals of groper, cod, mussels and whitebait fritters.  The R.S.A. Club provides great weekend dinners in a friendly environment at excellent prices.  Featherston also has wine bars, cafes, and special occasions can be catered for at The Loft.

Other noteworthy produce include hot bread, pies, lemon syrups, apple cider, gourmet patisserie and artisan breads.

The lake and trout streams are a temptation to the freshwater fisherman.  On the coast, it is easy to charter a boat for a day's adventure with a professional fisherman or try your luck at surfcasting on a wild beach - with no land between you and Antarctica.
